- We operate 35 community-based career offices to help residents get a job, keep a job or get a better job – offering placement, career counseling and financial aid services.
- We partner with the region’s businesses, educational institutions, civic organizations and community leaders to find solutions to current and future labor needs of industries that are vital to the region and its economy.
- As part of the statewide Texas Workforce Solutions network, we partner with the Texas Workforce Commission and other workforce boards in the largest job-matching database in the state--WorkInTexas.com.
Workforce Solutions is funded by state and federal tax-dollars that are redirected back into the Gulf Coast region. We do not charge for most of our services.
In 2006, Workforce Solutions served 17,677 businesses by recruiting, screening and referring candidates to fill 41,105 openings; by providing current economic and labor market data, outplacement services for 4,801 workers from 63 companies, and labor market data and human resource consulting.
Through its region-wide network of local offices, Workforce Solutions registered more than 414,150 job-seeking residents, directly placing 51,641 in jobs. We also helped 27,279 Hurricane Katrina and Rita evacuees. To help area residents build their careers, Workforce Solutions provided more than $120 million in financial aid to customers for education, child care, transportation and other support services.
